Shitakiri Suzume, or tongue-cut sparrow, is about an old man who finds a sparrow and takes care of it, and his wife who is greedy and hates it and splits its tongue after it ate her starch. In the end the man is rewarded for his generosity and kindness, while the wife is punished for her bad ways.
